Photo of Young You

Do you ever go through old scrapbooks or pick up old family photos to admire your younger self? In this practice, I’m asking you to dig back into these old photo albums.

Find a photo of you as a young child - ideally between the ages of 5 and 8 because this is the age range in which we start to feel judged by others. Because of this, this is usually the age where our inner-critic starts to have a little more power in our day-to-day life.

Look at the picture of yourself and imagine that child hearing the same criticism that your current (adult) inner critic is saying to you.

What would you say to that child as they heard those harsh words? What does this child need to know is true? What does this child need to hear in order to feel safe and loved?

The answers to these questions are exactly what you need today! That young child is still in you, and you deserve to talk to yourself in a way that builds you up and leaves you with feelings of positivity and love.

Sending you love,
