My Next Thing

Do you ever feel stuck ruminating on a certain situation that you wish you could erase from your memory or do over again? It’s only human to do so, and we all experience this at some point or another!

For example, let’s say that you have caused a car accident at a stop light by bumping into the bumper of the car in front of you. Although you might not have caused too much damage, the person in front of you is extremely frustrated and says some hurtful things. For the rest of the week, will you have trouble getting over this situation? Will you dwell on it or punish yourself for making the mistake in the first place? Will you have trouble moving forward?

Instead of getting into a bad head space when something negative happens to you, think to yourself about what your next thing will be. What positive thing will you do next? What will you say next? How will you choose to improve yourself of your life next? Give next? Write next? Create next?

After getting into a fender bender, instead of ruminating on the accident, think about how you can improve yourself and your day moving forward. Maybe you choose to keep your phone in your purse while driving at all times. Maybe you choose to journal out a few self affirmations to remind yourself that you are a good driver who is capable of driving safely. Think about your next thing.

By not giving into the ruminating cycle of criticism and instead moving onto your next action, you establish a more positive mindset and give yourself permission to move on from whatever negative experience you might be holding onto. Move forward with intention, and don’t give into the negative self-talk that can stem from a small or big failure.

Sending you love,
