Raison d'etre

My daughter asked me to quiz her on the conjugation of fifty French verbs over the weekend as she prepared for a test. I haven't taken a French course for over twenty-five years, but helping her study brought back to mind one of my favorite French phrases, "raison d'etre."

Raison d'etre translates into English as "reason for being."

What is your reason for being?

When the world is in chaos and our hearts are troubled, it helps to have a sense of purpose so that we may feel grounded and rooted amidst the chaos.

There are many reasons for your being.

You bring love and kindness everywhere you go.
You care for loved ones.
You create new things.
You serve and give.
You smile.
You guide and nurture.
You remind people they are not alone.
You help and comfort.
You are the love in the room.

Ponder your raison d'etre this week. When you feel overwhelmed, return to your simple yet profound purpose.

You are here for a reason.

Many reasons.

Sending you love,
Ginger
