Go With You

Think about the last time you were in a room of people and felt unsure of yourself, afraid, uneasy, or sad and alone. What would it have been like to have someone that loved you dearly right beside you, reassuring you that it would all be okay?

I want you to be that someone for yourself.

You actually don’t have to go anywhere alone. It’s you and you walking into every room. You that is afraid, and you that has deep inner wisdom, love, and kindness. Take that you with you.

Think about going into rooms holding your own hand. Have your own back. Keep yourself company. Encourage yourself. Be your own best friend.

Some of us take an inner critic everywhere we go who tells us that are wearing the wrong thing, saying the wrong thing, and doing the wrong thing. It is like having a negative inner commentator who tells us what everyone else is feeling and thinking about us. It is usually wrong. It is usually just an anxious voice of fear inside our minds.

Instead of taking the critic with you, take the most loving version of you with you. Picture yourself when you are the most loving person - holding a baby, loving on a pet, laughing with friends, on a walk in awe of nature, or having a loving spiritual experience. Take that version of yourself with you next time you are unsure of yourself or afraid.

What would the most loving person in your life say to encourage you? Be that person for yourself.

What would the most loving person in your life say to you when you feel afraid? Be that person for yourself.

This is a practice that will feel more natural over time. It might be sounding weird to you today, but give it some thought this week. Going into a room with yourself will help you feel less alone in the world. It can be a powerful practice to have your own back and show up for yourself when you feel fragile, vulnerable, or unsure.

You don’t have to go through life alone. Partner with yourself. Show up and help yourself when you have to do hard things.

You deserve you.

Cheering you on,
