Creating
/Every day of our lives, we create something.
Homes.
Memories.
Knowledge.
Encounters.
Paths forward.
Connections.
Insights.
Healing.
Calm.
You are creating something every minute. You are creating a life. This is the essence of being human.
We create our human experiences.
A moment of stillness with coffee in the morning, your noticing of the birds singing, a simple smile exchanged with a stranger, a deep conversation with a friend, an intention for your day, a loving environment, a sense of inner calm —these are all acts of your creation.
What if we approached each day as an artist approaches a blank canvas of infinite possibilities for creating something? Instead of going through the motions of another day, we could ask ourselves:
What will I create today?
And then at the end of the day, pause to reflect on all you created. Each day you will see where you loved, fed, helped, listened, learned, and created somethings.
As I age, I am finding that one of the most sacred acts of creation is the continuous creation and unfolding of ourselves. Growth is a continuous act of creation. Every lesson learned, every fear faced, every moment of stillness in which you listen to your inner wisdom—all of it shapes the masterpiece that is you.
Life is not something that happens to us. It might feel that way at times, but how we react and what we do with circumstances is ours to create. A meaningful life is something we create moment by moment, and a beautiful life is what we co-create with the each other.
Today, we have the power to create, what will we do with it?
Let’s each create a moment of joy today.
At least one for yourself and one for someone else.
Creating a life with you,
