Savoring
/In the Northern Hemisphere, Summer has begun. A time when we typically slow down a bit, spend more time outside, and enjoy holidays with friends and family.
Summer invites us to pause and savor. Savoring is an experiential practice. It deepens our appreciation of life when we linger in the pleasures of being human. Savoring reminds us that we are all sharing this human experience, and as hard as it may be to be human right now, there are simple pleasures always available to us.
Savoring is an awareness that something good is happening while it is happening.
What foods do you want to savor this season?
What places?
Which people?
What moments?
Which books?
What creative projects?
Which flowers?
What activities?
Pause and sink into savoring things a little deeper this summer. Spend a few extra seconds noticing.
Savor the good while you are experiencing the good.
Move slowly…linger…notice…savor. Make it a spiritual practice. Be in awe. Gratitude naturally flows in moments of savoring.
Experience the fullness of being human:
The summer peach.
The sand on your feet.
The story that makes you laugh.
The nap outside.
The smell of the grill.
The novel you can’t put down.
The dog on your lap.
The watermelon slices.
The white hydrangeas.
The morning birdsong.
The ice cream cone.
Savor it all,
