Peace: Release

If you long for a sense of inner peace, then it is time for “release” to become your new favorite word.

Release the guilt.

Release the criticism.

Release the need to know.

Release the scorekeeping.

Release the judgment.

Release the frustration.

Release the Ex.

Release the tight grip.

Release the blame.

Release the hustle.

Release the expectations.

Release the need to be right.

Release the worry.

Release the assumptions.

Release the longing for an apology.

Release the scarcity mentality.

Release the obsession.

Release the control.

Release the pressure.

Release the competition.

Release the rigidity.

Release the stuff you are holding on to.

Release the irritation.

Release the need to win.

Release the revenge.

Release the suffering.

Release the wishing they were different than they are.

Release the disappointment.

Release the tension.

Release.

You might be wondering how to release these things. It really is a simple as a decision. Decide to release.

You can resist the release and struggle with it, or you can make the decision to release and be done with it. This may take some repetition to remind yourself that you are ready to release. Stay intentional and repeat it often, soon your brain will loosen its grip and allow whatever you’ve been holding onto to float away.

Just the intention to release a notch has the potential to shift your energy into a sense of hope, freedom, and lightness.

If you live in the Midwest, take a walk this week and watch the leaves fall. They show us how to let go and release. And soak up these words by John Muir, “Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop away from you like the leaves of Autumn.”

A helpful mantra this season can be “peace: release” or a longer version “in the release, I will find peace.” Play with these words and make them your own to see what resonates with you.

Choose something from this long list of things to release and see if you can release it just a bit this week.

Then a bit more. Baby steps. There really is peace on the other side of release.

Releasing with you,
